Tuintje van Adam

An urban mushroom farm in Amsterdam-Noord

We grow shiitake, lion’s mane and oyster mushrooms at Meteorenweg 272 in Amsterdam-Noord, on the Noordoogst site. The farm supplies more than 50 restaurants across Amsterdam and sells directly to anyone who walks in. We are open to visitors every Friday from 14:00 to 19:00, and we run a workshop in English every other Saturday.

When you can come

Every Friday, 14:00 to 19:00. We are also open on workshop days — those dates change, so check the agenda before you travel.

Getting here from Centraal

Take one of the free ferries across the IJ behind Amsterdam Centraal, then bus 35 or 36 into Amsterdam-Noord. Cycling from the city centre takes about twenty minutes.

What we do

Tuintje van Adam has grown gourmet mushrooms in Amsterdam since 2020. The farm was founded by Chris Bondam and moved to its current site in Amsterdam-Noord in 2023. We produce around 600 substrate bags a day on hardwood left over from Dutch sawmills, mixed with a small share of organic rye.

Nothing leaves the cycle as waste. Once a block has finished fruiting it still holds live mycelium and broken-down wood, so we sell it on as mycelium compost for gardens and allotments around the city. Deliveries inside Amsterdam go by cargo bike.

Chef Alain Caron visited the farm for BinnensteBuiten, a daily programme on Dutch public television, and cooked with our lion’s mane on air.

Looking for something else?

These four English pages cover visiting, what we grow and supplying restaurants. The webshop, the recipes and the full species guide are in Dutch — most browsers will translate them well, and the Latin names are the same in every language. Questions in English are welcome at info@tuintjevanadam.nl.

English sessions run from 12:30 - 14:30 on workshop Saturdays.
